There isn’t anything I can’t say wasn’t delicious. Literally everything tasted amazing. We had Blaze as our waiter and he’s top notch. We had sambusa, both collard greens and beef. The sauce was amazing with that. We also tried “the world,” and everything on that plate was delicious. I don’t eat a lot of meat, and I couldn’t get enough. My husband usually prefers meat, but he loved all the veggies dishes. The Kings Bread Pudding was very delicious and the coffee just amplified its deliciousness. We will definitely be going back and sure hope we get Blaze again.
I probably don’t have an Ethiopian palate so my 3 star review will sound harsh.
Note: no AC so they opened the door. The server was nice but didn’t remember my drink. It’s fine. Several pick up orders but the dining area had only 3 tables filled so not sure if it is due to the lack of AC or just not busy in general — possibly due to a Saints preseason game.
As for food, it reminds me vegan style where they heavily lean on sugars to give their food flavor. I appreciate the cultural aspect but everything was just…food. The chicken was a little dry. The gaminess of the lamb is fine but my friend didn’t like it.
Overall, the food is simply food. Flavors were neutral. One thing had spice. I didn’t bother to learn what I ate bc nothing impressed. I think if you are vegan, you probably will like it.
Nice place. Nice ppl. Food was just food. I ordered one $60-70 platter for two, enough for 4 people. With included 20% tip, the meal was short of $90.
Best brunch I’ve ever had hands down! I was with a group of four and we ordered the shrimp tibs and grits, glazed chicken and waffles, afrotoast, jollof with lamb, and the blueberry waffle.
5s across the board, and seriously AMAZING service for someone with Celiac disease who needs to be gluten free. Only one item on the entire menu has gluten (don’t let this deter you), and the structure of the family style meals makes it SO welcoming for a celiac to join in with everyone else and share the same food and experience. I’ll remember this place for a long long time!
This place is always a GOOD vibe. Great staff, food, and music were on point. It was an awesome night for a relaxing dinner after a long week. We started with Beef Sambusa. Then Lamb Wot with Ayib on the side, that will never disappoint any tastebuds. We even tried a new dish Mar Mitmita Shrimp with rice, and it was delicious. Kings' bread pudding was fabulous, too, with a delicious rum sauce (not a caramel sauce like other places). Can't wait to return.
Blew me away. Fantastic food and great service. You could taste the love in the food. The atmosphere was thoughtful and inspired. Thanks so much guys! Will be back next time I’m in NOLA.
Ordered "The World" family style plate. So much food, it would fill 3 people up. Our favorites were the chicken and lamb tibs, both were bursting with so much flavor! Will definitely come back and try more dishes.
One of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans. The food is always delicious. The service was amazing, super attentive! The atmosphere is beautiful. Fantastic vegan options! Highly recommended!
